The questions worth asking
Mostly variations on one question: what happens to my research if I stop paying.
- What happens when the trial ends?
- Nothing is taken from you. The DNA tools stop, and everything else — your tree, your sources, your media, your export — carries on working exactly as before. No card is required to start the trial, so nothing can be charged at the end of it.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes, at any time, and premium runs to the end of the period you already paid for. There is no cancellation fee and no retention flow designed to wear you down.
- What happens to my data if I stop paying?
- It stays yours and it stays readable. Downgrading locks the DNA tools, not your records — and GEDCOM export is free forever, so you can take the whole tree elsewhere on the way out if you want to.
- How do payments work?
- Cards are handled by Stripe. Card details never touch our servers, and you can read the subscription code yourself.
- Why is any of it paid?
- DNA matching and triangulation are the parts that burn real CPU on our side, so they are the parts that cost money. Building, citing and exporting your tree does not, so it does not.
